Never have I had such a desire to build my dream home as I have recently, thanks to my favourite programme Room To Improve on RTE 1, my head is filled with ideas of renovations and dreamy décor. I love Dermot Bannon, I love his vision on each project that he takes on, unfortunately we can’t afford to hire him (right now) nor build our dream home just yet. But WE CAN improve what we’ve already got.
For now, redecorating our current home is where we’re at. It’s small but very homely and it’s come a long way in the last few years. We’re still decorating it actually, once one room is finished another one seems to look shabby, and I’m not talking shabby chic, just shabby.
I’m drawn to the colour grey lately. All shades of grey actually. Could even be fifty shades, I haven’t counted! And at the moment our own bedroom is under a cosmetic makeover and grey is the colour. The walls, headboard, curtains and bedspread are all grey. I plan on “greying” it up a bit more too with a rug and some artwork. I might just add a colour pop to break up the grey – Blush pink, mustard and turquoise are in the running.

Cosmetically it looks good but if I was to further the makeover I would have new wardrobes fitted and a Velux Blind to add extra light to this very grey room! A bedroom is supposed to be a place to relax and unwind and with the right dose of fabrics, light and stylish décor I shall have the boudoir that I desire.

A trip to Ikea is on the horizon and that’s where my Pinterest perfect ideas come to life. I can’t wait to get stuck in!
At the last minute I decided to paint my hallway grey instead of white and I’m so pleased I did. It’s very chic and I think actually warmer than white would have been.
