When I’m entertaining guests at home (which is not that often) my drink of choice to make would normally be a cocktail – I’m a Mojito lover. But seen as it’s Christmas and I had some of my family over last night for a catch up, I decided to try my hand at making mulled wine for the first time. It’s the perfect festive drink to serve when people start to arrive. It sets the tone and gives a nice warm feeling.
Am I the only one that thought mulled wine might be difficult to make? The recipe was simple and so tasty! In fact the recipe I used is by a Viennese chef that has been serving it at the Christmas markets in Vienna for many years.
The ingredients are :
1 bottle of good quality Red Wine (Cabernet Sauvignon is best)
6 Cloves
2 Star Anise
2 Cinnamon Sticks
1 Orange
3 Tblsp Sugar
1/2 Pint Of Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice
Stir and Heat for five minutes. (Do Not Boil)
I know there are hundreds of recipe’s out there for making a delicious mulled wine but this is the first one I’ve tried and it’s extremely tasty, I couldn’t help but feel utterly Christmassy drinking it!
Go on, try it for yourself!
Going to make some mulled wine on Christmas Eve. Never made it before. Saving this so it’s on you if it fails okay??! 😂😂😂
