What to wear for : A Christening

O’s christening is next month and I’m on a mega hunt for a dress. I have an image in my head of how I want to look and I hope to achieve it without too much hassle and without too much money being spent (yeah right)!

The day itself will be very traditional, first to the church then on to our local pub for a private party. Dressing appropriately is key, not only is it happening during the day but we’re going to be in a church, so I want my hemline to be a respectful length!
I’m thinking Victoria Beckham meets Helena Christensen – Chic but a little edgy, womanly yet sexy.

O is at a good age for her christening, I’m lucky I won’t have the (I’ve just had a baby) look, a bit bloated and slightly tender! We held off til September to have it because O’s granny lives oversees so she will be joining us for our special day next month.

I’ve been scouring my favourite websites and boutiques for the perfect dress and I found one that costs €1160 by Preen, so unless I win the lotto before then I will just have to add that dress to my wishlist instead!

Back to the drawing board for me – I’ve compiled a few looks that I consider suitable for a baby’s christening because after all there will be plenty of photos to look back on for years to come and no one wants to cringe and say, What was I thinking?! So putting a fabulous look together is vital!

I couldn’t resist adding this black and white graphic maxi skirt by Malene Birger. Teamed with pointy heels and a white shirt or cropped tee, this sure is a statement look.
