Once an infant starts cutting teeth, it can be a painful process for infants and parents alike with remedies including everything from clean, wet washrags to pain relief pills. One of the oldest methods available is an amber teething necklace, which the infant wears around their neck. It helps relieve the pain associated with teething. Amber is a natural analgesic and when worn on the skin, it releases healing oils that helps babies and young children to stay calm and more relaxed thoughout teething. If you are concerned about having it around your baby’s neck, you can tie it around their ankle, I’ve spoken to other mothers and as long as it touches the skin it will still be beneficial. I had never heard of this before and I was given one as a gift so i’m delighted to be able to use something natural first before I start using something from the pharmacy.
Another natural product that helps with teething is Sophie la girafe. I remember a few years ago calling it the yummy mummy must have toy! I was very keen for Olivia to have one though. It’s so cute and small enough to fit your baby’s tiny hands from about four months old. Sophie is made from 100% natural rubber derived from the sap of the Hevea tree. In it’s description it claims to stop baby from crying! That i’d like to see!
